About Dr. T. Grace Steinley
Muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and fascia, collectively known as soft tissue, are Dr. Grace Steinley's passion. Soft tissue injuries range from neck, shoulder, and wrist pain to back, hip, knee, and foot pain. Despite the vast prevalence of soft tissue injuries, the healthcare system has not made them a priority, leaving many people with chronic problems. Dr. Steinley is working to change this for the better.
Dr. Steinley has made it her priority to understand soft tissue and to know how to diagnose soft tissue problems. She integrates pertinent information gathered in your history and exam to form a "story" about your injury. The appropriate treatments for your specific injury are applied. As your treatment progresses, she incorporates strength exercises, stability training, stretches, and ergonomic advice into the treatment process to prevent recurrences.
Her education includes a graduate degree from Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon, and an undergraduate Bachelors in Biological Science from St. Cloud State University, Minnesota. Both were completed Summa Cum Laude.
She is a certified Active Release Techniques (ART) provider having successfully completed courses encompassing the spine, upper extremity, and lower extremity. She is Biomechanics certified for ART Ironman Performance Care and was part of the treatment team at the 2005 and 2006 Lake Placid Ironman. Through the NSCA, Dr. Steinley is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. She is a certified Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (SASTM) provider.
Dr. Steinley is active in Boston's running and triathlon community professionally and personally. Since 2005, she has been an assistant coach and injury consultant for Boston Fit's marathon training program. She lectures to various running and triathlon groups in New England about injury prevention, treatment, and strength training.
Personally, Dr. Steinley has completed many marathons and triathlons. Throughout her life, she has been active in the outdoors, spending time canoeing in the Boundary Waters, backpacking in Oregon and Washington, and skiing the Rockies and Cascades. Her experiences as an athlete have helped her immensely with regards to understanding, treating, and preventing training related injuries.
