Dr. Kate S. Kelly
Dr. Kate S. Kelly is a graduate of New York Chiropractic College. Her philosophy for healing involves assessing the body as a whole for diagnosis and treatment. She seeks to resolve problems at the source rather than just treat symptoms.
At Active Recovery Boston, Dr. Kelly employs state-of-the-art, gentle chiropractic care to people of all ages to eliminate neck, back and joint pain, and compromised range of motion. Her goal is to promote balance and allow the body to function at optimum levels. She is a certified Active Release Technique (A.R.T.) practitioner and was a member of the Active Release Technique team at the 2007 and 2008 Ironman Lake Placid. Dr. Kelly has also earned certification in Kinesio Taping.
Dr. Kelly has a strong belief in the benefits of chiropractic for sports-specific performance enhancement. Treatment goals include:
creating maximum power output
maximizing athletic potential
minimizing injury potential
improving position sense and repositioning ability
developing proper movement and control
enhancing post-competition regeneration and restoration of joints and muscles.
Prior to chiropractic school, Dr. Kelly has served as Clark University’s strength and conditioning coach for eight years in the women’s field hockey and softball programs. She has been a guest speaker at Clark in the areas of pre- and post-performance nutrition, stretching, and injury prevention. She has also conducted workshops and lectures at universities and multi-national corporations in the areas of: nutrition, injury prevention, regaining one’s competitive edge, managing physical and mental stress, posture and breathing technique for runners, and improving productivity through proper workplace ergonomics.
Dr. Kelly has been a competitive triathlete for 12 years, has had her fair share of bumps and bruises from Cyclocross, and is currently investigating the world of CrossFit.
Dr. Abbie A. Zubiel
Dr. Zubiel received her BS in Kinesiology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and her Doctorate of Chiropractic (DC) and MS in Human Anatomy & Physiology from New York Chiropractic College. Her post-doctoral studies included training as a chiropractic sports physician, which allows her to understand the demands of the professional and collegiate athlete as well as the weekend warrior. She has served as the team chiropractor for the Boston Cannons (Men’s Major League Lacrosse), the Boston Renegades (Women’s Professional Football), Harvard University Track & Field, and Lesley University Sports Medicine, and has advanced her passion and proficiency of sports medicine through working with local professional and collegiate athletes within her private practice. Dr. Zubiel utilizes a functional, joint-by-joint approach while treating her patients, focusing on deep myofascial release of the kinetic chain, in addition to dynamic stretching and strengthening rehabilitation. She is an Active Release Technique® (ART) and Graston Technique® provider, a kinesiology taping practitioner, and holds an advanced certification of competency in nutrition. She has advanced training in gentle techniques for perinatal care and has completed post-doctoral studies in chiropractic management of pregnancy and the Webster Technique. In addition to her sports medicine practice, Dr. Zubiel has a clinical interest in functional and integrative medicine. Through a biological systems approach, Dr. Zubiel works to nutritionally support the individual’s body so that it can heal. Her training and personal exploration in nutrition has contributed to her success in helping patients with digestive imbalances and autoimmune conditions. She has a passion for reconnecting people with their potential to heal utilizing lifestyle medicine and moving individuals toward a greater well-being.
Dr. Zubiel is continually expanding on her education and techniques in order to provide her patients with the most current, evidenced-led and comprehensive care possible. She is a strong advocate of leading an ancestral lifestyle through whole food nutrition and keeps active with ClassPass. In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors with her family and dogs. She is a native of Beverly, Massachusetts.
Dr. Allison Di Salvo
Dr. Allison Di Salvo received a BS in Biology from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine where she was a four year member and senior captain of the varsity rowing team that won four consecutive NCAA silver medals. She graduated as the Valedictorian of her class from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa. At Palmer she worked in the rehabilitation clinic, focusing on the treatment of soft tissue injuries and correcting dysfunctional movement patterns. She was also a member of the sports council, which allowed her to treat runners at local road races.
Dr. Di Salvo’s interest in treating exercise-induced injuries comes from her own personal experience with chiropractic. Her senior year at Bates College she suffered a severe strain to her hamstrings in the middle of the season that prevented her from being able to row. Luckily, she found a chiropractor that was willing and able to help her through the injury and successfully complete her final season of collegiate rowing.
Dr. Di Salvo is a certified Active Release Technique (ART) provider and holds a certificate in kinesiology taping and instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization. She has experience treating a wide range of issues including low back and neck pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, and various sprains and strains on everyone from high school and collegiate athletes to weekend warriors to those just getting into the gym for the first time. She utilizes a multi-faceted approach when treating her patients in order to correct their symptoms at the root of their cause as well as prevent the issue from recurring. It is always her goal to get her patients back to doing what they love, pain free and as quickly as possible. She continues to learn and stay up to date with the newest, most evidence-based techniques so she can provide the highest level of patient care possible.
